We all scream for ice cream

After family night this week we had ice cream cones. This was the first for Katelyn and she thought it was the best thing ever. As for Kimball, he would live on the stuff if we let him. Ice cream is usually one of the first things he asks for in the morning, after cereal and milk.

Happy Birthday Cort!!!!!!!!

Today is the love of my life's birthday. Cort is such an amazing guy and I am so blessed to have him as my husband, best friend and father of our children. Since we have been married Cort has been going non stop at schooling and is almost done with his master's degree. He has always worked very hard to provide for us while taking a full load of units and I don't know how he does it all a lot of the time. He loves me and our children and we can't get enough of him. We couldn't ask for a better man in our lives. He is my sunshine. I am so in love with my handsome husband and my love only grows stronger each day that I get to be with him.
Cort is a great father and the best wrestle buddy any boy could want.

He is a great dancer and has some signature moves.For those who attended our wedding, can you forget the M.J. moves? I think not!(Ask him to show you the rotisserie sometime, it's classic.)

He knows how to have fun and make us smile.

Park City

The kids and I went to Utah for a little vacation and to spend time with family. My niece Calista had a softball tournament in Park City, and she is such a stud. It was amazing seeing the size of the girls at the 10 and under level. They are beasts, I swear. Half of them were the same height as me! And don't forget I am like 6'3!! Just kidding. It was a lot of fun. I am on a mission now to convince Cort that we need to move there because it is just so beautiful. I think the high while we were there was 85 degrees, heaven. We had a great time and missed Cort a ton. Only 2 more days until he returns!!!!!!!! Hooray!!

Letters from Africa

So I've been working here at the ISS in Pretoria. I stay at a bed and breakfast in a town about 15 minutes away called Moreletta Park. Its a pretty drive to get here. Each morning, we have a 1 hour briefing. We meet in a conference room and the researchers each take a few minutes to brief the group on the latest developments on their respective areas. Since I've been here, ambassadors, foreign ministries, dignitaries and various news agencies have also attended some of the briefings to learn. After, the briefings, one of the researchers usually invites me to their office for a discussion, they want to bounce ideas off me. Then I go back to my office and edit papers. This ISS is in a really nice business park, but true to the country, it's surrounded by a tall fence and topped with electric wire. There's a large mall across the street. I usually walk over there for lunch.

Last Sunday I attended church in Daveyton. Since I left the ward has grown and the building has been expanded. It was great to see so many of the young men I taught and baptized were now back from their own missions, married and serving in the ward. After church, I went to the Mogotwsane's home for lunch. Rice, chakalaka, beet root, sweet potatoes and pap. It was delicious. After lunch we drive to one of the squatter camps in Etwatwa to visit the Stanely and Lousia Bale family. Mom and dad got to me them several years ago. They have since moved into a bigger shack, still no electricity and running water inside, but more space. When we arrived, Louisa was not home but Stanely instantly recognized me and gave me a giant hug. When Louisa arrived, she did a double take and shook my hand as I introduced myself as Cort. The Mogoswane's and Stanely had a little fun with her. After a minute, she recognized me, and screamed, "Bacigalupi, what happened to you, you got so big". It was a great reunion. They have four children now and are still struggling to get by. Louisa work the night shift at a factory 7 days a week, washing floors and washing uniforms. Stanley is in poor health, but somehow they manage to feed their kids. They are still very active and walk to church each Sunday.
It was great to be back in Daveyton. Great place, great people.

This Saturday one of the guys from work here is taking me to a Rugby match in the afternoon. In the morning I'm driving to Vereeniging to visit Simon Lehobo. Next Saturday I'm driving with Mondi and his wife to Swaziland to visit one of my old companions. It's about a 4 hour drive.

Cort is in Africa now and we are missing him a lot. A month seems like it won't be too bad, but these days alone with both kids might be changing my mind. They actually have been really good. Kate and Kimball are really missing their wrestle buddy. Cort is such a great dad. I luckily have been keeping myself busy at night reading the Twilight series. I am hooked! I am a little embarrassed to say that, being as they are kind of teeny-bopper books. I am awaiting August 2 when the last book comes out!

What super hero's really do at night

Between Kimball's batman and spider man pajamas, toys and his superman sheets, I am not sure if we could handle anymore super hero's in our house.(Even though he has not actually ever seen any cartoons or movies with these guys) He loves to pretend to be these characters and run around the house doing super hero tricks. You know like somersaults and leg kicks. This is one of the only times we can get pictures of him being still. We love our little man.

You have to love the classic spaghetti mess. Eating just isn't any fun unless you get it in every crease, and on the eye lids!

The Birthday Girl

I know, I know the earings and crown are a little much, but she just looks so darn cute and she had to be dressed like a princess. Look at those curls!!! I just want to eat her up.

Our little girl is 1!!

Katelyn is looking so grown up to me these days. I hold her a little tighter every chance I get since she's becoming so independent now. We can't seem to keep our lips off of her and usually attack her with kisses several times a day. We are trying to take advantage of this time and get in our daily quota of kisses. I grit my teeth thinking about how darn cute she is. I want to go steal her out of bed and snuggle with her. Seriously, we are just so in love with our little girl!
